Savannah
For those who yearn for a coastal location but fear the potential of hurricanes, Savannah is your place. Check out a map of the southeast coast; Savannah is notched into the coastline. Virtually all Atlantic storms catch the Gulfstream and are whisked north before they get near the city. In 100 years, only one serious hurricane has reached Savannah, and it came out of the Gulf of Mexico and across the Florida Panhandle. Popularized by the novel “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” Savannah is a better-than-good place to live and play golf all year round.
